I’m calling this a live-bloglet, I’m thinking it might be more of a reactions thing, i.e. I’m not going to try to say something about every scene. Grey’s has really let me down these last few years, so I’m hoping for a rebound.
UPDATE from after the show: I’ll warn you right now. This is not as coherent as these things usually are, because I mostly spent the time lamenting over how much I miss how this show used to be. Come back, old Grey’s! Come back!
9:00 – We open on Meredith & her floor plan o’ candles & her sad, sad voiceover & then, she’s in the hospital & yes, YES, I called it! There was an accident & Derek is totally dead. And then…Mere wakes up. Dang it. I guess freaking Derek is alive. Lame.

As part of my fall TV preview, I’m counting down the 5 Season Premieres I Am Most Desperately Looking Forward To:
2.) Lost
Premieres January 2009 (LAME!) on ABC
Okay, so I’m cheating a little here as Lost, yet again, isn’t premiering until spring. Ugh, I hate that so much! Because there’s so much to find out! What was the horrible thing that happened right after the Oceanic 6 escaped the Island? How did Jeremy “Locke” Bentham end up off the Island too? Is Michael really dead (I say yes)? Is Jin (I say no freaking way)? Is Claire (I say YES & she’s so much more interesting that way!)? What happened to Faraday’s raft? Was Charlotte born on the Island? If so, um, WTF about that whole pregnant women die on the Island thing? Why do they “all” have to go back? Who is “all”? Does that include Ben? How about Walt, or Desmond or Frank? Where the hell did the Island go, anyway? Did it get moved in time or space? OMG, there’s so much I must know immediately! Whose bright idea was this spring premiere thing anyway??!

Previously on Lost, the Oceanic 6 are totally in different places all over the Island. Hurley is with Locke & Ben, who totally gave himself up to Keamy, who totally wants to kill everyone on the Island. Kate & Sayid got captured by the Others while going after Jack, who is with Sawyer, going after Hurley. Sun & Aaron are on the Freighter with Desmond & like a bunch of C4. SO how to they, & not the others, get off the Island?
1.) Whoa, we’re opening in the flash-forward from the Season 3 finale? “We have to go back??” Also, who the hell is Jeremy Bentham? I totally think you just made that name up! And what horrible things happened the day they left?? Two hours, we better get some freaking answers.

I’m trying something new. Live-blogging takes an awful lot of time, but there’s been such wonderful season finales lately that I want to find a way to put more content up. So starting with tonight’s 2-hour Grey’s season finale, I’m going to experiment with a live-bloglet, which is just a stripped down version of a live-blog. There will be less recapping and more quick-hit commentary. Like a live-blog, I’m putting down my thoughts as the show happens. See what you think.
1.) How does Mere & Derek keep getting these brain tumor clinical trial patients? How much time is passing here? That’s really depressing.
2.) Mere & Cristina talking depressingly in bed = awesome. Except that Cristina doesn’t want to dance or drink tequila, which is how you know something is seriously, seriously wrong with Cristina. God, I wish they would just move on from this storyline already. I miss Awesome Cristina.

8:59 – First new Lost episode of the year! OMG awesome. I really couldn’t be more excited & not just because I am in serious writers’ strike-induced new episode withdrawal. However, I’ll be real, not only has it been a long time since this show’s been on, but I only sporadically watched it last year anyway. So this should be fun & informative, right?

Last night for my E-Commerce Marketing class at Emerson, we went to hear Lisa Gregorian speak. Lisa is the Executive Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Warner Brothers Television Group & an Emerson alum. She gave a really interesting talk about marketing television in the age of new media. (more…)
