8:58 – LOL at Greg Grunberg & Masi Oka’s NBC rap. PS: Eris Quod Sum in Latin means “I am what you will be.” What is with the cryptic titles this season? Whatever happened to good old “Cautionary Tales” & “Five Years Gone” & stuff that isn’t confusing & meaningless?
8:59 – Previously on Heroes, Hiro & Ando met with Joe & get some more wise advice that I’ve long since stopped caring about. Claire knocks out PM & hands him over to HRG, who we otherwise haven’t seen in like forever. He takes the opportunity to ask Mere for help. Pinehearst has something over Daphne, which supersedes her wish to get out before she has to convince people even more harmless than Hiro to kill someone. It also makes her turn her back on Matt, bummer. Peter busts into Pinehearst where his dad totally steals all of his powers. Also? They went & killed Adam!
9:00 – We open in Africa, where Hiro & Ando STILL ARE. I am annoyed. They argue about whether Hiro should go try to stop the horrible future…or something. I don’t really know. Or care, for that matter. Joe tells them that if they don’t chose their future, it will be chosen for them.
9:02 – Suresh, Nathan & Tracy. Mohinder is looking angry that they messed everything up. How so, Mohinder? Why don’t you just grab them again? It’s not like you had problems with Spouse Abuser guy. He tells them that he needs them because their synthetic powers can be the key. Nathan’s like, nuh uh, nope, we are SO not doing any more science experiments. You know why? Because YOU are CRAZY. (more…)

8:59 – Previously on Project Runway…and then, there were three. Kenley was slightly less unbearable & managed to refrain from insulting Tim Gunn for one week. Korto made an ugly gold wedding dress. Leanne made a collection of waves that was shooed into the top 3. And poor Jarell isn’t going to Bryant Park. And by ‘isn’t,’ of course I mean ‘is,’ but we’re not gonna see it.
9:00 – Listen, we all know this was a pretty mediocre season. It’s disappointing. I hope NBC wins & keeps the show right where it is, because if this is the show moving to Lifetime…I mean, I’ll still watch. It’s still one of the best reality shows out there. I just feel like it’s lost its way a little. If I had to choose a winner…obviously, ABK (Anybody But Kenley) applies…but I’d probably with Leanne. Not because I think she’s the next great American designer. But I can see her clothes in stores & I can see myself buying them. And for that, I guess she deserves to win.

Nike 1:00 spot
Yet another brilliant spot from Nike, this one for Nike Football, “documenting” the paths LaDainian Tomlinson and Troy Polamalu take from the moment they are born to the moment they meet, in violent and poetic fashion, on the field. It ends with the tag “Leave Nothing,” and like the previous spot, it’s the music, epic, that truly makes the ad.
You can almost always tell when you’re watching David Fincher‘s work. I wasn’t surprised to find this spot was one of his, with it’s distinctive cinematography & storytelling direction. I especially like how the ad itself is shot in a way that mimics Tomlinson & Polamalu’s collision coarse, with the subject in one scene going one way and the one in the next scene going the other. Closer & closer & then you see that they’ve always been headed this way. And then, suddenly, the crash is over & they’re up, patting each other’s back for a good hit.
“Leave Nothing” is such a perfect tag for so many reason, especially perfect for football, where every player is expected to give everything of himself for the game & sportsmanship is honored above all else.

8:59 – Previously on Heroes, P-Peter went & messed up the future worst than F-Peter messed up the present. He takes Sylar’s power & kills F-Nathan. Then he goes back to see Present Sylar, who tells him he’s his brother. Matt has seen a future where he marries Daphne & she dies, so now he’s following a turtle again to go find her. HRG + Sylar? Still = awesome. And Angela tells Hiro to dig up our old unkillable friend, Sark—I mean Adam!
9:00 – We open on Nathan talking over a montage o’ many subplots. He asks if he is an angel or a monster, a hero or a villain. Cause there’s no difference, Nathan, didn’t you see the volume title? Anyway, non-existent Linderman shows up & Nathan, reasonably, asks if Linderman is so non-existent, how the hell did he know about the whole Tracy committing suicide thing? Linderman does what he usually does, talks cryptically. Tracy comes in & notices the part where Nathan is talking to no one. He’s like, don’t worry about that, I do that like all the time.
9:03 – Mohinder shows up in a park where he meets a drug dealer. The druggie is like sure, I got what you want. Mohinder’s like, no, I want you. I’m confused. Mohinder is definitely not looking like a cockroach. Let’s get moving there, producers.

8:59 – Previously on Project Runway, I didn’t particularly like, or care about, ANY of the designers. Also, I constantly skipped the live-blog to keep up with premiere season. But I’m here now! And that’s the important thing, am I right? Okay, so here’s the deal, it’s ABK time. Anybody But Kenley. Cause I may not care much about the other three, but at least they didn’t go around dissing Tim Gunn & being smug to Heidi. You’re certainly not going to be the next great American fashion designer if you go around insulting the people trying to help you. Anyway, because Korto, Jarell & Leanne are all kind of meh—by which I mean, not interesting enough to keep around for drama & not brilliant enough to keep around for legitimacy—Kenley gets a stay of execution. All four designers will design a collection, but only three will show, & unlike Season 4, all four can be auf-ed before they get to Bryant Park. Only not really, because they’re going to show a decoy collection, but let’s just pretend we don’t know that.

8:59 – Previously on Heroes, Future Peter screwed up everything. Like, for seriously? Stop screwing around with the present, Future Peter. Then, Future Peter up & took Present Peter to the future to show him how terrible it is. Hiro & Ando totally got captured & put into Level 5 because they went & pissed off the Haitian. Freaking Mohinder went & pulled a 4400 & injected himself & starting turning into a cockroach. Also? Noah + Sylar = Awesome. But you already knew that.
9:00 – We open on Mohinder, who still have the scales going on. He’s talking into a recorder, recording his “rashes.” And then…Mohinder goes & interrupts a domestic abuse incident. The dude, predictably, is like, nothing’s going on here. Mohinder’s like, hey, how about I throw you across the room? The abusee, also predictable, runs up to help the abuser. Touche, Mohinder.
